What Are Your Anti-Aging Treatment Options?

Is it too late to take care of your skin?

In our twenties, we thought nothing of sleepless nights and scarfing pizza, long summer days bare-faced in the blazing sun, and filling our cups with wine instead of water. But all of that living catches up with us - showing in the dark spots, fine lines, and drooping jowls that mark us as older than we feel.

Even as we age, and start to frantically devote ourselves to skin care regimens and green tea detoxes, the damage has been done. Our skin simply can’t repair itself the way it used to.

What options do you have to reverse the clock?

One of the best known procedures to fight off aging. An injection of botulism toxin that relaxes the muscle tension that causes wrinkles. The effects fade, lasting up to six months.

Cosmetic Fillers

Facial fillers help replace volume in the face that causes drooping and sagging. Injections can last up to two years but will eventually fade.

Chemical Peels

This removes the outermost layer of skin to give you a smoothed, even skin tone. Skin may become extremely sensitive after a chemical peel and should be makeup free and sun free for 2-4 days, and peeling may begin to occur during this time period as well.

Laser Treatments

The laser version of a chemical peel. This helps circulation and is painless, but can be very expensive and multiple sessions are needed to maintain results.

Dermabrasion and Microdermabrasion

Dermabrasion is useful to reduce things like acne scars. Recovery time is generally minimal, with swelling and redness fading within a few days. However, acne breakouts, enlargements of pores, and changes in skin tone are all risks associated with dermabrasion as it involves peeling the outermost layer of skin.

Liquid Collagen

Results may not be as immediate as Botox or fillers, but taking liquid collagen helps address the underlying issue behind many anti-aging signs instead of being a “band-aid” solution.

Collagen is a compound involved in the repair and replacement of skin (amongth a plethora of other important functions!) However, natural collagen production slows as early as 30. Taking a daily dose of liquid collagen replenishes your body’s collagen stores, and works from the inside out to help reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and skin elasticity (which most other treatments don’t address).

It’s less expensive than most other treatments and can help heal the body rather than just cover the issues.
